What is Hyperhidrosis / Excessive sweating?

Hyperhidrosis is a medical term for excessive sweating.  Sweating is the body’s way of regulating body temperature.  For those, affected by this can have significant impact on the individuals confidence, social interaction and daily living activities.

Hyperhidrosis is classified as focal and generalised.

Focal is localised to specific ody areas such as the armpits, palms of the feet or the face.
Generalised is less common and covers the whole body. It may present itself in a more focal pattern. This occurs due to a variety of secondary causes including, menopause, diabetes and hyerthyroidism.  A treatment using Botulinum Toxin injections can stop this sweating.

How does the treatment work ?

Tiny injections of Botulinum Toxin are injected superfically into the area of sweating.  This blocks the action of the sweat glands thus stopping that area.

What are the results ?

80% of clients see an improvement after 1week but may take up to two weeks. The average duration of treatment is 6 - 7 months but can last up to a year.

The Nurse Practitioner will perform an specific diagnostic treatment to identify the specific area of sweating to ensure the most accurate treatment is carried out.
