IPL Red Vein Treatment

 

How is the treatment carried out ?
Intense pulse light (IPL) emit light which is readily absorbed by blood vessels, heating them to a point where they are destroyed. Following treatment, the vessels quickly clear as they are absorbed by the body,leaving little or no trace of the original lesion.

Which types of veins can be treated?
Most red skin lesions including facial thread veins, rosacea, spider neavi, port wine stains are treated with IPL.

How is the treatment carried out ?
A layer of chilled gel is applied to the skin to help guide the light. The light is placed onto the skin and short pulse of light is released. The applicator is passed over the skin several times before moving onto  neighboring area, and the process is repeated until the whole area is treated. Each pulse of light treats a large area of skin and so the duration of the treatment is very short. The gel is removed and the skin is moisturised. During the treatment protective  eye wear must be worn.

Am i suitable for treatment?
Treatment is suitable for most people, however best results are obtained for those with fair skin and there is less chance of side effects.

How does the treatment feel ?
Treatment is mildy uncomfortable but no anaesthesia is required. many people describe the sensation of a quick hot pin prick.

Are there any side effects ?
After treatment the area may be red and may feel warm a little like sunburn. Sometimes people may experience slight swelling of the area up to 48 hours after. Though rare there is a chance of a small blister and there could be lightening or darkening of the skin.

What should I expect after the treatment?
Immediately after the treatment the skin may appear red and warm tingling sensation may be felt. A calming gel with be applied following your treatment with a Sun Protection.

How long does the treatment take ?
A typical treatment session is approximately 15 -  45 minutes depending on the size  of the lesions


How many treatments are necessary ?
Typically 3 - 5 treatments are needed for maximum results, though small lesions may clear in just a single session. Repeat treatments are spaced every 4 - 6 weeks apart.

Consultation procedure
Prior to your treatment you will be required to have a consultation this includes your medical history and any medication that you are currently taking. This will ensure if you are suitable for the treatment. You will be required to have a patch test, before and after photographs will be taken.
